The Square Mile’s published collection trial has an end date
The City Corporation’s August 2026 guidance describes a free residential garden-waste trial from 1 April to 30 September 2026, subject to review afterwards. It requires its garden bag and a collection booking; bags must not be left on the public highway. Check the service’s current status for any work after the trial period. Agree professional removal separately if the property, material or job does not fit the residential arrangement.
Specify care, repotting and removal individually
For a planted terrace or courtyard in Portsoken or Aldgate, explain whether containers stay in place and which plants need attention. Ask for assessment before moving a heavy planter or adding new materials. Separate pruning and weeding from replacing growing medium or disposing of the whole container. Agree how the plant will be cared for after the visit and whether water and storage are available on site.
Make building coordination part of the booking
Tell the provider who grants access, which hours are permitted and what notice the concierge or estate team needs. An illustrative brief could request care of named containers, keeping all pots in place and taking only the agreed plant cuttings away.
